Transcript of Episode 0: An Introduction (teaser)

Hello! I’m Anika AKA Pixie and you’re listening to the Endless Anakin Playlist Podcast. Whew, say that ten times fast, what was I thinking?
I started this project, or a version of this project, in the summer of 2005 just after the release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, which is still my favorite Star Wars film.
I then described it as – quote unquote – “a compilation of songs selected by Vader’s Angel Anika in an effort to capture the tragic, tormented and ultimately triumphant life of Anakin Skywalker”. …I was full of myself, and a fool for alliteration. But it was fun.
I selected a little over 30 songs at the time and started posting them to Livejournal with my incredibly earnest notes, film quotes matched to lyrics, and painstakingly made 100 x 100 pixel icons. Again, Livejournal. I then rebooted the project on spotify and tumblr and youtube more than a decade later, when The Force Awakens came out. And now I’ve decided to make it a podcast. My family tease me that I never stop talking about Anakin Skywalker, so, why not record it?
Each episode I will use a song from my playlist as a spring board to babble about my meta analysis of some aspect of Star Wars. Not just Anakin or Anakin adjacent, but I’ll start with him because Anakin Skywalker is my favorite fictional character in all of fiction.
These are ideas I’ve babbled about before. They’re ideas I’ve put into all my previous projects – my posts, stories, vids, art, icons, whatever that I’ve done over the years. They’re also ideas you maybe probably already heard on another podcast. But..well, as I am always saying I believe, strongly, there is no such thing as “too much Star Wars”.
Too much for any one person to consume, maybe. Too much to love, sure, I don’t expect to love or even like all of any one fandom or story, not even Star Wars and it is my favorite. But not too much to exist. Not too many series or too many stories or novels or podcasts or ideas. I have ideas I won’t shut up about and I’m excited to share them with you.
Endless Anakin will be released weekly starting February, 2021. Each season will include nine episodes, just like the Skywalker Saga. They’ll have at least one guest – someone other than me babbling about Star Wars and music. It could be you, hit me up! And a new vid premiere, because I love making them and this will force me to do it on a schedule.
